First of all, unlike other forms of laminate flooring, it is not necessary to install a layer of padding prior to installing Trafficmaster laminate flooring. Instead, it can be laid directly over any type of sub flooring, aside from carpeting. That really great although you might istall padding anyway to fill yourself more comfortable.
As with all laminate floors, Trafficmaster laminate flooring is pieced together with tongue and groove paneling. It is not, however, necessary to apply an adhesive to the tongue and groove edges of the Trafficmaster laminate flooring pieces. Therefore, it is even easier to install than other types of laminate flooring.
Trafficmaster laminate flooring is also very durable. Pets and children can run and play on it without concern for scratching the surface. Cleaning Trafficmaster laminate flooring is a snap, as well.
In general, it only requires sweeping or vacuuming to maintain. In the even the floor does get dirty, it usually only needs to be wiped down with water. Even tough stains such as nail polish, paint, and crayons can be wiped away with alcohol or nail polish remover.
The chances of having to replace a section of Trafficmaster laminate flooring are slim because it is so durable and stain resistant. If, however, it does become necessary to replace a section, Trafficmaster laminate flooring is much easier than other laminate floorings to replace. This is primarily because it does not have to be glued together and because the padding does not have to be installed underneath.
Although, if the piece of flooring need to be replaced, it can simply be removed and all of the pieces of your flooring can be simply put back together like a giant jigsaw puzzle, nothing could be simpler!
Let’s pretend that you just bought some laminate flooring boxes today. For example, laminate produced by trafficmaster. Usually there are message on each box which says that you need to wait 48 hours until install. Although you are alreaady ready want to install so you need to decide, wait or start now.
From our experience, assimilation, whether it’s flooring or cabinetry is important, especially in high humidity environments. 48 hours is the stated time on the box, but after 24 with this product you’re likely safe. Just be sure to allow the floor to float, by that meaning do not install ANY planks tight to a wall. I hold .25″ all the way around the room or corridors sides.
I would go ahead and install, just wait the remaining prescribed hours to install your baseboards.
Laminate flooring and bamboo flooring are both wood flooring surfaces. Although like everything other, they both have their pros and cons. Let’s take a closer look to that
Abrasion resistance
Lаminate flooring is strong abrasion resistant. AC4 and AC5 rating LF can be used for heavy commercial purpose. It can be used in many high traffic indoor places such as gymnasium and supermarkets. Bamboo flooring is not strong abrasion resistant. It can be used in high traffic place.
Price
Laminate F is much cheaper. The prices of bamboo is usually 3-4 times higher than it
Moisture resistance Both of the products are strong moisture resistant. But BF is much better. BF even can be used in kitchen. The swelling rate of BF is very low.
Durability
Regarding durability, Bamboo flooring is better than laminate flooring. LF can’t be repaired if the top layer, abrasion resistance, is broken as there is no layer to protect the decorative layer and support material. BF still can be used if its surface is broken because there is still bamboo under the surface.
The content of formaldehyde
BF is mainly made up of glued bamboo planks, while the support material of LF consists of glued wooden fiber. So the content of formaldehyde in LF is times of that in bamboo. But LF is also safe as long as it meet the standard of formaldehyde release.
Colors available
Almost all the colors can be available to laminate floors: pine, oak, birch, beech, cherry, oak, teak, walnut, ceramic tile, granite, marble and even including bamboo. But the colors for bamboo flooring(BF) are just natural color, carbonized color and several other colors.
Appearance
BF gives a natural, elegant and comfortable feel. It makes your house more valuable. Common LF can’ t offer such feel. But now there is some type of LF with hardwood like appearance such as V groove type and hand scraped surface.
Noise
LF is of a floating type. There is some noise when people step, while there is only a little noise from BF as its installation method is quite different from LF. It is not a floating type. But attached underlayment on the back of LF can reduce most of the noise.
After installing the flooring is naturally going to be dirty. Clean it with vacuum cleaner and quick-step dry kit. Yes, there are special kits for dry cleaning quick-step flooring. Do you have some ugly carpeting or out dated linoleum flooring? If so, now is the time to update it. You will likely need an entire weekend to do this but results will impress you. The project goes a lot faster if you have some help. The tools and supplies you will need for this are of course the flooring (try to but the middle price range flooring as it is easier to install), a box-cutter knife, hammer and block of wood, a drill with screw bits (of course some screws 2″ work well) , some underlay material, and the most important item I swear I would never do another floor without is a laminate cutter. The price is about $30 from Windsor Plywood and it saved a bunch of time and did not create dust. Also a jigsaw is helpful if you have curved cuts to be made and some wood glue. Total cost is approximately $500…
Remove the carpeting
Here is how it looks before the start. Not a pretty sight.
