Q&A: How Remove Discoloration Caused By Sunlight On Laminate Flooring
Fri, Jul 25, 2008
Simple answer for the question is - You Can’t.
The more full answer will be:
You can’t really “remove” discoloration due to sunlight. What you’ve got is an absence of color, like an old photograph that has faded (which, basically, is what has happened here). So, there’s nothing to “remove”. A lot of laminate flooring is susceptible to fading when constantly exposed to sunlight. There’s not much to be done about it in general.
If the laminate in question is the glue less variety, you’ll probably have to take up those planks and replace them. Hopefully, you’ve kept some spare planks around just in case of damage. If not, there’s always the option of putting down runners or area rugs to cover the area.
Depending on how old the laminate is, you may want to consider replacing it entirely. This is, of course, down to how much it means to you to have a uniform floor, balanced against how much you’re able to spend on it.
