Q&A about laminate flooring

Temperature of laminate flooring is a very important quality when you choose between laminate and carpet flooring.

The answer is simple. Laminate is colder than carpet but warmer than tile. But it might not be as cold as you think. The foam underlayment installed under most laminate floors not only deadens sound but acts as a thermal break between the cold concrete and the laminate. It’s science - cold goes to hot. Sit on a concrete slab and sense how cold your bottom gets and this is what in essence will happen with your flooring choice. In the summer your flooring choice will likely feel good under foot. Keeping in mind that cold goes to hot the concrete floor’s chill will cool the laminate floor to a level below the ambient temperature of the room.
